These celebrities not only make news, they also make wishes come true! Home-grown personalities such as Jessica Simpson, John Cena, Bethany Hamilton and Donald Trump set aside time from their hectic schedules to bring hope, strength and joy to children dealing with a life-threatening medical condition.
Sick children with an uncertain future are given hope, strength and joy to help them overcome their health challenges
They and a host of other A-listers have teamed up with Make A Wish Foundation
and together they are granting wishes to inspire sick children with an
uncertain future and help them overcome their health challenges.
Here are some of the stories that have changed a life forever!
Jessica Simpson is a singer-songwriter, actress, fashion designer and young mother who is particularly supportive of charities involving children. This is the story of a five-year-old boy from Oklahoma who, thanks to her generosity, became one of her many make a wish kids.
When she heard
that little Christian had wished to meet her, arrangements were made for
him, his parents and two older brothers, to travel to Seattle, WA,
where they visited the Museum of Flight and the Aquarium and dined at
the Space Needle.
The following evening, a limousine picked them up at their hotel to take them to the Jessica Simpson concert but first they met with the star in her dressing room before the performance. Afterwards, she signed a photo for him and he then asked Jessica 10 questions he had prepared for a mini interview.
Christian’s mother described the wish experience as “truly magical.” She said that not once throughout the entire trip did they think about hospitals or treatment and that seeing him live his dream, happier than ever, was way beyond what they had ever imagined.
Ignacio had seen the hit TV show The Apprentice and when he was 13 years old he wrote, “I wish to meet Donald Trump.” He longed for the opportunity to be fired by the real estate legend. Well, they ended up filming a mini version of the show and we got to see the softer side of the father of five also known as The Donald, another of our celebrities who make wishes come true.
Ignacio and his family, as well as one of his school teachers, traveled from Milwaukee to New York City for a three-day visit. He and Trump talked for half an hour and beer making even entered the conversation! Later, Trump’s assistant ushered him into the boardroom, just as she had done for so many other hopefuls on the show.
Ignacio was asked,
“Are you a good businessman?” He just nodded with a smile, but Trump
already knew about his bilingual skills and straight-A grades. “You’re
too good a kid,” Trump said. “You’re not fired. You’re hired!”
Ignacio was inspired by the way Trump had dealt with the challenges of his business ventures at the same time this young teenager was struggling to beat his illness. He was overjoyed that his idol considered him already too successful and talented to be fired!
Bethany Hamilton is a professional surfer who lost her left arm in a shark attack when she was 13 years old. She is best known as the inspiration behind the movie Soul Surfer, released in 2011, which is based on this incident that nearly cost her her life.
Kendall from New York State wished to go surfing with Bethany and rode to shore on her very first wave
Because of the extraordinary resilience and courage she shows, kids look up to her, and she has become one of the regular celebrities who make wishes come true for make a wish kids.
Kendall, age 8,
from New York State, wished to go surfing with Bethany Hamilton, so she
flew to Bethany’s home state of Hawaii for the chance to do so. First
they visited Waikiki Beach and then rode together on a fire truck in
Honolulu’s 4th of July Parade.
Once on the island of Kauai, Bethany started teaching Kendall how to surf and this kid had her wish granted when she stood up and rode to shore on her very first wave. Awesome!
